Gregg coached at Centerville for 27 years. During his tenure, he led the Elks to 16 WOL championships and won 301 total games in his coaching career.

They said Gregg exemplified attitude and effort.

ESPN football analysis Kirk Herbstreit, a Centerville and Ohio State alum, played for Gregg and posted a tweet Sunday on his coach’s passing.

“Just found out my HS coach Bob Gregg passed away at 88. Coach was a legend on the field but so much more. He was TOUGH-DEMANDING-at times intimidating. But he taught us about TEAM-HARD WORK-PERSEVERANCE & SACRIFICE,” Herbstreit said.
