WATCH: Sam Darnold called for safety after hitting offensive lineman in the head

NFL: Carolina Panthers at New York Giants

Sam Darnold’s career in New Jersey as a member of the New York Jets was somewhat of a comedic event for the ages.

Now a member of the Carolina Panthers, Darnold proved he’s the gift that keeps on giving taking on the New York Giants at the Meadowlands.

Check out Sam Darnold getting called for a safety on an intentional grounding after hitting offensive lineman Michael Jordan in the back of the head with the football. It really is something.

That’s impressively bad. It takes a lot of skill to play football this poorly.

As for the former No. 3 pick of the Jets, Darnold started his Panthers career pretty strong — recording six total touchdowns against one interceptions in his first three starts this season.

Since then, it’s been downhill for Sam Darnold. The USC product accounted for six total touchdowns against seven turnovers over the course of the previous three games heading into Sunday’s outing. It’s not a coincidence that Carolina has lost three consecutive.
