The Dallas Cowboys are on a bye this week, and it could not have come at a better time for quarterback Dak Prescott.

Week 7 was apparently the perfect time for the bye week to occur for the Dallas Cowboys. Quarterback Dak Prescott is nursing an injured calf that could have kept him out for this week’s game. Luckily, there is no game on the Cowboys’ schedule.

Prescott injured his calf on the last play of a thrilling overtime win against the New England Patriots a week ago. With the Cowboys coming back to practice on Monday, expect to see Prescott not participating fully until at least Wednesday.

Will Dak Prescott play in Week 8 for the Dallas Cowboys?

According to NFL.com’s Ian Rapoport and Tom Pelissero, it is expected that the Cowboys’ take it slow with Prescott. Remember, this is the same team that played it very close to the vest with Dak’s preseason shoulder injury. There is no reason for this minor injury to become something more because Prescott wants to push himself.

When the Cowboys return to action in Week 8 against the Vikings on Sunday Night Football, all expectations are that he will be available. All indications are that the meticulously hard-working quarterback is ahead of where the trainers expected in his rehabilitation at this point in the bye week.

Dallas has every reason to be cautious with Prescott’s injury. The quarterback is playing at an MVP level, with over 1,800 yards and 16 touchdowns while completing a career-high 73 percent of his passes. After an opening night loss to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, Dallas has torn off five straight wins. The Cowboys have a commanding lead already in what looks like a weak NFC East division.
