For the Detroit Tigers 2022 roster construction, here are the eight dates you will need to remember as we are nearing the end of October.

Last night’s nighttime temps dropped to 30 degrees across Metro Detroit as the Atlanta Braves clinched their first World Series appearance since 1999.  The winter-like conditions shook me up to remind everyone that there are seven dates to remember for the Detroit Tigers or any baseball fan to remember for the off-season.

October 31st-November 8th: Qualifying offers

Teams have five full days after the end of the World Series to extend qualifying offers to potential free agents. Qualifying offers are one-year deals at the average salary of the 125 highest-paid players. For this year that is projected to be $18.4 million. The Tigers do not have anyone who will receive a qualifying offer.

November 9th:  Manager of the year

More than likely in the American League, it will go to Houston Astros manager Dusty Baker, although it would be great to see A.J. Hinch get a vote or two.

November 15th: Hall of Fame announcement

Until Miguel Cabrera retires or when Lou Whitaker hopefully gets in during the Modern Baseball vote in 2023, this is the day that Major League Baseball will announce who gets enshrined into Cooperstown.

November 19th: 40-man roster

This one is key as the Tigers have to make a few decisions on who returns in 2022 and who in the minor league system will claim a 40-man roster spot.

December 1st- Non-tender day

New contributor Allen wrote about the Tigers who are eligible for non-tender a few days back. He made some really good cases for each player so we shall see what direction the front office will take here.

On the same day, the collective bargaining agreement ends so this is where the rubber hits the road as the MLBPA and the owners try to come to some sort of labor peace.

December 5th-9th: Winter Meetings in San Diego

Ah yes, the MLB Winter Meetings. Whether you remember the Randy Smith era or during Dave Dombrowski’s tenure, it was always an adventure.  It is also when the Rule 5 draft takes place. So depending on who is left out there to draft, the Tigers may or may not participate. Unfortunately, there is already talk of the meetings being canceled.

January 14th: Arbitration talks

This is the deadline for when the front office talks numbers with the players who are arbitration-eligible. Here is the list of players for Detroit per the data on FanGraphs:
