One dead after crash on IN-267 in Plainfield, I-70 closed

UPDATE: According to an IMPD report, police responded to three semis and one passenger vehicle in an accident. A semi-driver was pronounced dead on the scene, and another was transported to the hospital in serious condition. The driver of the passenger car received minor injuries.

Indiana State Police Crash Reconstructionists determined the driver of an eastbound semi lost control in a construction cross-over, crashing through the concrete barrier wall. A westbound semi had struck them head-on. A trailer being pulled by a third semi received minor damage and a passenger car got caught up in the wreck.

All lanes of westbound I-70 were closed and remain closed at this time. Emergency responders expect the lanes to be closed for several more hours for clean-up. The eastbound lanes were closed, but have since opened.

The exact cause is still under investigation. There was heavy rain in the area which could have contributed, according to IMPD.
