A candlelight vigil to remember 5-year-old Elijah Lewis will be held Sunday, a day after the boy’s body was found in Massachusetts.
The vigil will be in Elijah’s hometown of Merrimack, New Hampshire and begin at 6:30 p.m. People will gather at Watson Park located at 441 Daniel Webster Highway.
The vigil was created to “bring awareness to Elijah’s story and show support to all of Elijah’s loved ones,” the Facebook post announcing the event said.
Authorities confirmed Saturday that a body presumed to be Elijah, who had been missing from New Hampshire, was found in Abington, Massachusetts.
Officials in New Hampshire learned the boy was missing earlier this month. On Friday, law enforcement from Massachusetts and New Hampshire went to a wooded area in Abington near Ames Nowell State Park.
A cadaver dog located a body presumed to be Elijah buried in the ground on Saturday, Plymouth District Attorney Timothy Cruz.
Elijah’s mother and her boyfriend were previously arrested in connection with the boy’s disappearance.
The mother, 35-year-old Danielle Denise Dauphinais, and Joseph Stapf, 30, were arrested in New York on Oct. 17 on charges of witness tampering and child endangerment.
They are accused of asking other people to lie about Elijah and where he was living.
Dauphinais pleaded not guilty to the charges in Hillsborough County Superior Court.
