Tubi is diving into the animation scene. The streamer is gearing up to air its first original animated series, The Freak Brothers.

The adult anime will star Woody Harrelson, Tiffany Haddish, Pete Davidson, and John Goodman. Rapper Schoolboy Q and Actress/TV personality LaLa Anthony will also have a role in the upcoming series.

While Tubi may not be as big as Netflix, Hulu, or Disney+, it’s on its way if it keeps putting out eye-catching content. Here’s what we know so far about The Freak Brothers.

Who are The Freak Brothers?

The Freak Brothers are based on the well-liked underground comic The Fabulous Furry Freak Brothers written by Gilbert Shelton in 1968. The series focuses on three friends Freewheelin’ Franklin Freek (Harrelson), Fat Freddy Freekotowski (Goodman), Phineas T. Phreakers (Davidson), and their cat Kitty (Haddish), who get so high on “magical” weed they fall asleep and wake up 50 years later.

Talk about stoned out of this world.  After realizing, they’re in a different decade, the trio and their cat head out to adjust to present-day San Francisco.  Will they stay away from weed this time or try to score some more?

The Freak Brothers: When will it air?

The Freak Brothers are set to air two episodes on November 14 and will be released weekly after that.  Eight episodes will air in total, with the season finale airing on December 26.

"“We can’t wait for Tubi viewers to freak out to THE FREAK BROTHERS, with its unforgettably irreverent comedy infused with heart, alongside an iconic ensemble voice cast and a stellar team of elite producers and writers,” said Adam Lewinson, Chief Content Officer, Tubi. “This comedy is 50 years in the making and we are thrilled to have it debut on Tubi as our first original animated comedy, marking a new step for Tubi as we expand our adult humor offerings.”"

Courtney Solomon and Mark Canton executive produce along with Alan Cohen and Alan Freedland while the company behind Rick and Morty Starburns Industries and Pure Imagination Studios handle the animation.
