If you want to increase your chances of coming face-to-face with a lost soul from long ago, plan a visit to The Landers Theatre, the most haunted place in Missouri.

During these uncertain times, please keep safety in mind and consider adding destinations to your bucket list to visit at a later date.
The Landers Theatre in Springfield knows how to put on a memorable production. However, sometimes it’s the spirits who remain in the historic theatre that really put on a show.
Both performers and guests have told countless tales of experiencing the paranormal, which really isn’t all that surprising considering the storied and tragic history of the theatre.
Tragedy first struck the theatre in 1920. Fired ripped through the theatre, claiming the life of the janitor. Countless performers have told of seeing that same janitor, sitting in the balcony, watching as they rehearse.
Don’t be too surprised if you hear the cries of a baby. Chances are it isn’t a baby in the audience but the spirit of an infant who fell to his death in another tragic accident.
It’s not uncommon either for guests to feel as though they’re being followed then to feel a tap on their shoulder. When they turn around, there’s no one there.
Several other apparitions have been seen in the theatre, too, among them a six-foot-tall man who is known to lurk in the auditorium. A blond-haired man, wearing clothes from the Elizabethan-era, has also been seen peeking out of windows.
If running into an apparition doesn’t send chills down your spine, just make your way to the landing that separates the first and second floor balconies.
Get ready for a chill, because that area of the theatre is always bone-chillingly cold. You may also see a strange green orb, believed to be the spirit of a theatre-goer who was stabbed in that area many years ago.
