A mass shooting Friday night in Southwest Baltimore left seven people injured.
Police say the victims included three men and four women.
Four of the victims are teenagers.
According to police, the victims were shot when a silver Ford Explorer drove through the block opening fire on the group.
Police say six of the victims sustained non-life threatening injuries, but one young man is in critical condition.
“The only thing they see is the violence in the streets and they feel like they need to follow suit, and they don’t but nobody is showing them different,” said one city resident.
Earlier this month there was another mass shooting that left six people shot in East Baltimore.
We asked Mayor Brandon Scott if he believes his crime plan is working.
“We know that total violent crime is down in Baltimore, but I’m not accepting that. We can’t accept that cowards will do what they did last night with an assault rifle,” he said.
So far this year 270 people have been victims of homicides, four more than this time last year
Despite the shocking statistics Scott says he won’t be deterred.
“We’re going to remain focused, make sure we track down the cowards that shot a bunch of young people last night, and make sure we’re also investing in our young people so they understand how to value themselves in a different way,” said Mayor Brandon Scott.
Meanwhile, city residents hope the change he speaks of comes sooner than later.
“If he’s not doing enough we’ll see that,” said one city resident.
