Xavi did not hold back from giving his assessment ahead of an awaited El Clasico match without Ronaldo or Messi.

“Messi is the player that makes the most difference in the world. It's more than obvious.”
In the past, Ronaldo has been confident enough to call himself the greatest player ever, which added extra fuel to the fire with the constant debate.
However, Xavi reiterated that his take is based on his time spent playing with Messi— the pair were teammates for over a decade.
“Messi does more things compared to Cristiano. Messi is the best. If Cristiano considers himself the best player in history, that's fine, but those of us who see him train, there is no comparison. Messi is the best in history and we don't see it any other way,” the Barcelona legend stressed.
With Messi and Ronaldo nearing the end of their careers, they continue to provide incredible performances on the pitch, allowing fans to continue the debate until their careers end. Still, just like Xavi, many Barcelona fans continue to endorse their club legend as the GOAT.
