Multiple people injured, at least 1 killed in multiple shootings in downtown L.A.: LAFD

Multiple people were shot in what appear to be multiple incidents in downtown Los Angeles Saturday night, according to the Los Angeles Fire Department.

The first shooting was reported at about 7:41 p.m. in the 800 block of South Grand Avenue, according to Amy Bastman of the LAFD.

The shooting took place inside an apartment, the Los Angeles Police Department added in a release on Sunday.

Two people were transported to the hospital in critical condition, while a third person died at the scene, Bastman said.

Police identified one of the transported people as a victim and another as “a suspect in the incident,” the release added. The third person “suffered multiple injuries to his torso” that proved to be fatal, police said.

Police believe there are additional assailants who fled the scene after the gunfight, which began as a result of a dispute during a cannabis transaction, police said.

“The suspects were last seen running from the location with the victims’ property,” the police release read.

Anyone with information about this incident is asked to call Detective Brad Golden at 213-996-4161.

The second incident took place two blocks away, in the 500 block of West Olympic Boulevard, just over an hour later at 8:44 p.m., Bastman said.

Bastman said one ambulance transported an unknown number of patients to a local hospital, and their condition is currently unknown.

Officer Todd of the Los Angeles Police Department added that the second incident appears to be a drive-by shooting. Todd added that there appears to only be one victim in the Olympic Boulevard incident.

It remains to be seen if the two shootings are connected.
