These streets are closing for Ann Arbor Marathon

ANN ARBOR, MI -- Runners will replace drivers as the Probility Ann Arbor Marathon brings a swath of downtown road closures on Sunday.

The marathon will take place on Oct. 24, postponed from its typical date in March due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

The following streets are closed from 3 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. for the event:

  • South Fifth Avenue to Hill Street
  • Hill Street to Brown Street
  • Brown Street to Hoover Avenue
  • Hoover Avenue to Division Street
  • Division Street to Hill Street
  • Hill Street to East University Avenue
  • East University Avenue across Pedestrian Mall to North University Avenue
  • Palmer Field path to Observatory Street
  • Observatory Street to Geddes Avenue
  • Geddes Avenue to East Huron River Drive
  • East Huron River Driver to North Dixboro Road
  • North Dixboro Road to Gallup Park Pathway
  • Gallup Park Pathway through Mitchell Field to Fuller Road
  • Fuller sidewalk to East Medical Center Drive sidewalk to University of Michigan Nichols Arboretum entrance: arboretum trails to Washington Heights

The Probility Ann Arbor Marathon begins at 8 a.m. on South Fifth Street between Hill and Madison streets.

This year’s marathon was deemed a “charity takeover” by Epic Races CEO Eva Solomon, with a focus on breaking down the stigma of mental health. A portion of each participant’s registration fees will be donated to one of 20 charities, with the participant choosing the specific charity.

Participating charities include Lost Voices, The Corner Health Center, Ozone House and Mood Lifters.

The event will feature a full marathon of 26.2 miles, which can be run individually or as a four-person relay, as well as a half marathon of 13.1 miles, a 10K and a 5K.

All races end at the same location.
