3 in custody as Tazewell County deputies investigate rural Mackinaw homicide

MACKINAW — A woman is dead and her husband is in critical condition following a shooting at a home in rural Tazewell County between Mackinaw and Deer Creek.

A release from the Tazewell County Sheriff's Office on Saturday said that Rebecca Bolin, 51, was found deceased at the residence on American Legion Road when deputies were called there about 9:15 p.m. Friday on a report that two people had been shot.

Douglas Bolin, 52, was taken by Life Flight helicopter to OSF HealthCare Saint Francis Medical Center in Peoria in critical condition, the release stated. 

Both had been shot.

Three suspects — a juvenile female; Sage Raeuber, 19; and Nathaniel Maloney, 18 — have been arrested on charges of first-degree murder, the release stated. All remain in custody.

The Bolins operated Bolin Trucking in Mackinaw, according to a 2019 Journal Star story about the family. Rebecca Bolin and her teen daughter took part in a scuba diving underwater cleanup with 631 other divers in a Guinness World Record attempt in 2019.

The investigation into the shooting is continuing under the auspices of the sheriff's office, the Tazewell County State's Attorney's office and the Illinois State Police.
