For the first time this season, Barcelona and Real Madrid will go head-to-head, as they will clash in La Liga play on Sunday.

The main talking point surrounding Barca as of late has centered on its sluggish form this season. The Catalan side did head into the October international break with a mere one win from six matches in all competitions.

Heading into this clash with Real Madrid, Barca defender Gerard Pique is not much concerned with his team's form over the past month. He believes that with any El Clasico, there should not be much attention given to what either side accomplished ahead of the match.

In speaking to Movistar's #Vamos (via Marca), Pique opened up about his mindset for this El Clasico fixture, where he spoke on why there should not be a favorite heading into the match.

“If they want to be favorites, we'll give them that tag without a problem,” Pique said. “But there are no favorites in a Clasico and it has been proven historically. I think we're both coming along well. We've had our moments of crisis but we're up in La Liga and recovering in the Champions League.”

Barca midfielder Sergio Busquets also chimed in with his take on the upcoming matchup against Real Madrid, where he shared on just what it would mean for the Catalan side to pick up a win over Los Blancos at this stage in the campaign.

“Winning would give us confidence and allow us to get closer to the top of the league,” Busquets said. “We are not far behind Madrid, two points behind, and there is still a long way to go in La Liga. But it would be important for our confidence to win.”

A win for Barcelona in this edition of El Clasico would leapfrog the side over Real Madrid in the La Liga standings by a mere point. There certainly is much on the line for both clubs in this upcoming match.
