Mike Chioda Recalls Vince McMahon Getting "Hammered" And Trying To Do Donuts With The WWE Ring Truck

Vince McMahon is not the best driver.

Appearing on a recent edition of Stories with Brisco and Bradshaw, former WWE referee Mike Chioda shared a story in which a drunk Vince McMahon demanded the keys to the ring truck and then attempted to do donuts in the Holiday Inn parking lot.

"I think we were in Richfield, Ohio. Remember we used to do Survivor Series on Thanksgiving and we used to do Richfield, Ohio it was. We used to go out there on a Tuesday and set up and I think it was a Wednesday night. Setup was done going into Thursday, and then it was a Wednesday night, everybody was drinking at the Holiday Inn bar," Chioda began by saying. "Vince was getting hammered, everybody was getting hammered. He was with Kevin or whoever it was hanging with Vince, and Vince goes, 'Hey Mike, where's the ring truck?' I'm like, 'Oh, it's right outside the parking lot, sir.' It was snowing. It was like a ton of snow from before and it was snowing that night and it was freezing because it's November at that time, the end of November in Ohio. Next thing you know, Vince is like, 'Give me the goddamn keys to the truck, Mike.' I was like, 'Uh, yeah, sure, Boss, no problem.' I gave him the keys and he goes. 'Alright, come on, come with me.' I looked at Chimel, he was over at a table and I'm like, 'Chimel, come here.' He's like, 'What?' I'm like, 'Vince got the keys to the truck.' He goes, 'Why the fuck did you give him the keys to the truck? I'm like, 'He owns the truck, Chimel. He owns the truck. He owns us. How am I not supposed to give Vince the truck?' He's like, 'Where's he going?' 'I have no idea.' He said, 'Come on.' He said 'Come on to who?' I said, 'He said come on to me after he took my keys.'"

"So me and Chimel come out there, now we're in the truck with Vince. We're in the truck with Vince. He's trying to do donuts with this 20-foot truck, you know, with a sleeper cab and he's shifting gears. He's like, 'Goddammit, can't this go any faster?' I'm like, 'Yeah if you're driving fifth gear going down the highway. Try taking it out of first and second gear, sir.' He's like, 'Goddamn this thing is slow.' I'm like, 'Well, we get to the towns and don't ever miss a show, sir.'"

"I swear he almost tipped the truck two or three times. Chimel's like, 'I can't believe you gave him the keys.' I'm like, 'Oh really.' I'm like, 'Okay, you say no. Go get him out of the seat then.' Yeah. So yeah, that was a mess. I thought he was gonna capsize the truck, man."

WWE Survivor Series 1992 took place in Richfield, Ohio. The main event saw Bret Hart and Shawn Michaels battle for the WWF Championship.

Chioda began his WWE career in 1989. He was released on April 15, 2020, after 31 years with the company.
