Sam Pittman discusses big win over UAPB, being 1 victory away from bowl eligibility
Sam Pittman and the Arkansas Razorbacks went to Little Rock and beat Arkansas-Pine Bluff 45-3 at War Memorial Stadium on Saturday.
After 3-straight SEC losses, this was a chance for the Hogs to get right against an in-state FCS foe. That’s exactly what they did, taking a 45-0 lead into halftime before pulling their starters.
Following the game, Pittman weighed in on his team’s performance. Here’s some of what he said during his postgame press conference:
On needing to bounce back with a big win:
Sam Pittman: Honestly we need to feel good again. We went through a rough stretch. That’s the truth. Being up 45-0 that was a big big deal for us. Now we have to get healthy next week and have to have a game plan against Mississippi State.”

On Myles Slusher and Malik Chavis getting interceptions:
Sam Pittman: “I think we are getting better. I was talking to Slusher last week and he was never as nervous as he was ever going to be. I was so happy that Chavis had got his interception.”

On being 1 win away from bowl eligibility:
Sam Pittman on being Bowl eligible: I don’t think we have a kid on our team that’s ever played in a bowl game. I don’t know if that’s an accurate statement. One away from it I think we will be very very hungry. Our team we want to go to postseason play and we want to earn it.

On Jalen St. John missing the game:
Sam Pittman: (Jalen St. John) He was just sick. We gave him some IV before the game. I almost dressed him out at halftime; I don’t know if that’s legal.

Arkansas is off next weekend before hosting Mississippi State on Nov. 6. We’ll see if the Hogs can clinch bowl eligibility in that game.
