Mein HAIR! Hirsute men from across the world descend on Bavarian town to try their luck in Germany's annual moustache and beard Olympics
Competitors from all around the world came to Germany to take part in a Beard Olympics and German Beard Championships for a facial hair face-off.
Some 100 men bearing beards and moustaches attended the contest in Eging am See, in Lower Bavaria. Competitors from the Netherlands, Austria, Italy, Switzerland and Israel as well as Germany all took part.
The men were able to show off their whiskers in a range of categories including Dali, Muscateer and 'natural' for those who didn't use any styling products to a jury of seven trained hairdressers and barbers.
They were assessed on both density and length, Dpa International reported.
The competition was hosted by the East Bavarian Beard and Moustache Club. The Beard Olympics is open to all but those throwing their hat into the ring for the German championship needed to be residents, or at least members of a club.
The club president Christian Feicht said: 'Beard care is actually the most important thing. The more 'material' you have, the more you have to style.'
