The Colts are led by head coach Frank Reich, Wentz and running back Jonathan Taylor. Indianapolis comes in with a 2-4 record after a Week 6 win over the Texans.
The 49ers are led by head coach Kyle Shanahan, Garoppolo and pass rusher Nick Bosa. San Francisco comes in with a 2-3 record after a bye last week.
Here’s how our experts see the game playing out.
Joey Chandler: Refreshed from their bye week, the 49ers snap their four-game losing streak to the Colts. 49ers 17, Colts 14.
Zack Rosenblatt: Carson Wentz is showing some flashes of looking like the Wentz of old, and the 49ers are quite banged up right now on offense. Colts 21, 49ers 17.
Chris Franklin: Colts quarterback Carson Wentz has started to look like the player the Colts hoped to see when they traded for him this offseason. Wentz has gotten help from running back and Salem native Jonathan Taylor who is playing at a high level. The 49ers appear to be going with Jimmy Garoppolo as their quarterback this week. It still will not be enough, and the Colts win this game. Colts 27, 49ers 20.
Mike Kaye: Carson Wentz will look to keep his positive momentum going, as he looks to gain his second win over the 49ers in as many years. This matchup could determine the Colts’ trajectory for the rest of the year. Colts 23, 49ers 21.

Daryl Slater: It’s really must-win time for both of these teams, if they don’t want the season to start slipping away. The 49ers are 2-3 after losing Trey Lance’s first last week to the Cardinals. The Colts are 2-4, coming off a blowout win over the hapless Texans. If the Colts can win this one, they’ll have a huge divisional matchup at home against the 4-2 Titans on Halloween. Colts 24, 49ers 21.
Joe Giglio: The 49ers are rested, and have their best quarterback back in the fold after a bye week. Indianapolis has played better of late, and Wentz looks like he has a pulse for the first time since December 2019. But let’s not get carried away here. The 49ers are the far better team. MY PICK: 49ers 27, Colts 20.
