Eagles have the 2nd most manageable remaining schedule in the NFL

The Eagles are supposed to be in the midst of a short-term rebuild, but the organization is dealing with the conundrum of still having elite talent at important positions.

Philadelphia plays in the NFC East and along with the NFL adding a 7th playoff team for both conferences, you now have the perfect recipe for another postseason appearance.

Mike Clay recently broke down the schedule strengths for all 32 NFL teams, and Philadelphia sits behind only Buffalo in having one of the league’s more manageable schedules.

The Eagles only face 4 teams with winning records going forward.

Let’s breakdown the 11 remaining contests:

The 4-2 Raiders got off to a blistering hot start, but they’ve cooled tremendously, before thumping the Broncos in Week 6.

Week 8: Away at Detroit Lions

The Lions are currently 0-6 and could be angling for a quarterback switch if Jared Goff doesn’t perform well on Sunday in LA against the Rams.

With the Lions looking to lock down the No. 1 overall pick, David Blough could see action at quarterback when the Eagles come to town.

Week 9: Home vs. Los Angeles Chargers

The 4-2 Chargers are coming off a humbling blowout loss to the Ravens, but are still one of the more talented teams in the AFC.

They’ll match up with the Patriots before traveling to Philadelphia.

The Broncos (3-4) have lost two straight contests, including a hard-fought matchup against the Browns who were without 3 offensive stars. Teddy Bridgewater has been banged up and Drew Lock could be under center when the Eagles come to town. Von Miller could be out as well.

Week 11: Home vs. New Orleans Saints

The 3-2 Saints are battling injuries and inconsistency while waiting for Michael Thomas to rejoin the roster. New Orleans is currently last in the NFL in explosive plays and it’ll certainly be a winnable game for the Eagles.

Week 12: Away at New York Giants

The Giants (1-5) still haven’t recovered from the Eagles letting Washington make the playoffs last season and this matchup could be about pride for G-Men. Daniel Jones has improved, but New York is still soft upfront and Saquon Barkley has been injured again.

Week 13: Away at New York Jets

The Jets (1-4) are working to see who’ll be around for the Zach Wilson-led rebuild and they could be sitting with one or two wins when the Eagles come to town.

As another team playing for draft position, New York’s AFC team could be in tank mode.

The Eagles could be 7-6 or 8-5 heading into the bye week, while a five or six-win Philadelphia team should start preparing for the draft.

Week 15: Home vs. Washington Football Team

Washington will play Philadelphia and Dallas twice in a four-week period and could enter the first matchup against the Eagles playing for draft picks. The loss of Ryan Fitzpatrick has hurt early season progress and although the veteran could be back for Week 15, Washington could have already started preparing for April.

Week 16: Home vs. New York Giants

The second of two matchups in a matter of Weeks, Philadelphia could play a role in Joe Judge being dismissed.

The second of two meetings in four weeks, Philadelphia can’t get caught looking ahead to Dallas.

Week 18: Home vs. Cowboys

A natural flex schedule candidate, this could likely be a game that makes or breaks Philadelphia’s playoff chances. Dallas has been rolling all season and should have the division wrapped up, while the Eagles’ easy strength of schedule to close the season could become a blessing.
