Man charged after woman finds ‘small spy camera’ placed in apartment window near UCF

ORLANDO (WESH) — A woman said her sense of privacy is shaken after an airline pilot allegedly put a camera in her window to spy on her.

Vernon Crider is a pilot for a commercial airline. He’s also now the suspect in a bizarre case of attempted video voyeurism at an apartment complex near the University of Central Florida.

The victim says she saw a “flashing green light” outside her apartment window, decided to investigate, and discovered the light was coming from a “small spy camera” attached to her window.

According to the arrest report, the camera was placed between the glass and screen to the window and was pointing towards her bedroom.

UCF police say the camera had a tiny sim card. On the card, police found images of what appeared to be a cockpit of an airplane, images of a legal settlement with Crider’s name on it and a picture of Crider himself.

Police got a copy of Crider’s driver’s license and an employee I.D. The pictures matched.

Vernon Crider is facing charges of attempted video voyeurism and burglary of an occupied dwelling.
