Blackburn Rovers 2-0 Reading: Player Ratings

Luke Southwood: 6

Although the players in front of him have gone off the boil in the last couple of games, Southwood continues to stand strong in goal - which is weird to say considering he’s conceded five in two games now. A good save from Dolan saved further embarrassment late on.

Andy Yiadom: 6

It was a bit of a ‘meh’ performance all round to be honest. No one was disastrously bad and no one really stood out, Yiadom is no different. A decent threat going forward as ever but never really came to anything.

Liam Moore: 6

Flip of a coin really whether Moore gets a 5 or a 6 for me, but for some reason I’m feeling nice so I’ll up him. The two goals were at the other end of the pitch and I haven’t seen them back yet, but maybe he could’ve got out to both a bit quicker. That might be me being harsh though.

Scott Dann: 6

Solid enough and connected with a couple of attacking set pieces too. Feels odd that the defenders didn’t do too badly considering we lost, but I don’t think Blackburn threatened us too much until they scored and the game opened up. Dann looks like he’ll be a real asset this season.

Baba Rahman: 6

Arguably our biggest threat going forward in the first half. Went close(ish) with a powerful effort after a marauding run. Few tidy bits defensively too from the Ghanaian.

Danny Drinkwater: 5

Sod’s law that I publish a piece on how good this guy is and then he goes and drops his two worst performances of the season. Maybe the amount of minutes he’s racking up is catching up with him as he looked shot in the second half. Didn’t have much chance to get on the ball and was done a couple of times defensively too.

Josh Laurent: 5

Better from Laurent after his last couple of showings, but still some way off the player we know he can be. Full of legs and energy as usual, just lacked that quality on the ball in the final third. As did the rest of his team mates.

Femi Azeez: 6

Actually showed some nice touches in the first half. Went close with a curling effort and found Ovie with a lovely switch of play. However, he went off not long before half time after pulling up. I pray for his sake that it’s just a tweak and nothing really serious.

Ovie Ejaria: 5

So frustrating that he hasn’t been able to build on his performance at Fulham. I think we all prayed that that game would be a catalyst for Ovie, but it really hasn’t. He looks knackered, a bit low on confidence and out of form. Today wasn't his day at all.

John Swift: 5

Likewise to Ovie, it really wasn’t Swifty’s day. Hard to moan at him too much considering what he’s done so far this season, but he looked really, really tired today. Should’ve pulled the trigger from TDB’s cut-back in the second half and he fell over the ball a couple of times too - summing up his, and our, day.

Tom Dele-Bashiru: 6

Played alongside Swifty as a false nine of sorts before Azeez went off injured, when he moved over to the right. Struggled to properly get in the game, but showed energy and was by no means the worst player on the pitch.

George Puscas: 6

Much better from George today, much better indeed. Probably our best player in the second half. Showed some decent hold-up play, nearly latched onto an Ovie cross and was just a bit of a nuisance for the Blackburn defence. Well, more of a nuisance than any of his team mates. Hopefully this will give him a little confidence boost, even he didn’t get on the scoresheet.

Not on the pitch long enough to make a serious impact.
