The Chicago Blackhawks placed star Patrick Kane, fellow forward Ryan Carpenter and defenseman Erik Gustafsson in the NHL’s COVID protocol on Saturday morning.

The Blackhawks announced all three players will miss practice on Saturday. The team did not divulge if they would play in Sunday’s game against the visiting Detroit Red Wings.

Kane, 32, has recorded a team-leading five points (one goal, four assists) in five games this season. The former Hart Trophy recipient has 1,093 points (405 goals, 688 assists) in 1,034 career games since being selected by Chicago with the top overall pick of the 2007 NHL Draft.

Carpenter, 30, has yet to notch a point in two games this season.

Gustafsson, 29, has one point — an assist — in four games in 2021-22.

The Blackhawks recalled forward Reese Johnson from Rockford of the American Hockey League on Saturday.

Johnson, 23, collected a goal and an assist in three games for the IceHogs.
