Tracking The Storylines
Svech's Streak:With his second period goal on Thursday night at Centre Bell, Andrei Svechnikov became just the fourth NHL player in the last 35 years to record consecutive goal streaks of three games or more in back-to-back seasons. #37 is also just the fourth Hurricane in franchise history to have four goals in three games, the first since Eric Staal, who did so during the 2005-06 campaign. Tonight he'll try for this fifth of the year, a mark only five skaters in the league have reached thus far.
Staying Out of the Box: The Hurricanes were able to
pick up a win Thursday night
against Montreal but not before affording them six power play chances. Something Rod Brind'Amour hopes his team can clean up, the Canes are up against a power play unit in Columbus that has made good on 36.4% of their early season tries on the man advantage, ranking tied for third best in the league
Milestone Watch: Teuvo Teravainen is two goals shy of 100 NHL goals
