OWINGS MILLS, Md. – Lebanon Valley's Field Hockey team picked up their seventh straight win and clinched a spot in the MAC Commonwealth playoffs with a 4-1 victory at Stevenson on Friday night. The Dutchmen improve to 9-8, 5-2 MACC while the Mustangs fall to 5-9, 2-5.

How It Happened
  • The Dutchmen wasted no time getting their offense on the board as Danielle Alba was able to beat the Mustang goalkeeper just 3:49 into the contest to give LVC an early lead. The Mustangs would answer back quickly when Macy Kosanovich tied the game just 46 seconds later. The two teams would stay deadlocked 1-1 after the first quarter.
  • Defense's reigned supreme in the second quarter as each offense only mustered two shots in the second 15-minute frame. The two teams would go into halftime tied, 1-1.
  • The third quarter as dominated by the Dutchmen as they outshot Stevenson 8-1 for the period. Around the midway point of the third, Lexi Ward would put LVC ahead as she found the back of the goal. Just over four minutes later, Rachel Wright would find the stick of Abbie Keath who would double the Dutchmen advantage.
  • With just seven ticks left in the third quarter, Hannah Shirey would add another tally in the quarter to push the LVC lead out to three. The Dutchmen would hold on to that lead and edge Stevenson 4-1.
Inside The Numbers
  • Abbie Keath scored her third goal in the last two games and is now tied with Rachel Wright for the team lead at five. Wright also recorded her first assist on the Keath goal.
  • Daniella Alba and Lexi Ward each tallied their third goals on the season. Hannah Shirey added her second score on the year.
  • Corinne Kearney made three saves to pick up the win in net.
  • LVC outshot Stevenson 16-5 and 10-5 on goal for the game. LVC had eight shots in the third quarter while the Mustangs only managed five for the entire contest.
  • LVC held a 9-5 advantage in penalty corner opportunities.
Who's Next?
The Dutchmen return to the field next week when they host Alvernia next Wednesday evening in the regular-season finale. Game time is scheduled for 7 p.m. at Arnold Field. LVC will celebrate senior day prior to the contest.
