On Oct. 26, the Metropolitan Opera will revive Wagner’s “Die Meistersinger von Nürnberg.”

The legendary production by Otto Schenk will see the highly anticipated return of Antonio Pappano to the Met after 25 years.

Pappano, who is the Music Director of London’s Royal Opera, last conducted at the Met in 1997. The new revival will also see the return of Lise Davidsen, who makes her role debut as Eva, in her first Wagner opera with the company.

The cast will also include German baritone Michael Volle, who returns to the Met to reprise his portrayal of Hans Sachs while German tenor Klaus Florian Vogt will portray the role of Walther von Stolzing.

Other cast members include German mezzo-soprano Claudia Mahnke as Magdalene, American tenor Paul Appleby as David, German baritone Johannes Martin Kränzle as Beckmesser, German baritone Martin Gantner as Kothner, German bass Georg Zeppenfeld as Pogner, and Ukrainian bass-baritone Alexander Tsymbalyuk as the Nightwatchman.

“Die Meistersinger von Nürnberg” will be performed six times from Oct. 26 to Nov. 14, 2021. The Oct. 26, Nov. 4, and 11 performances will be broadcast on Met Opera Radio on SiriusXM Channel 355.
