An updated look at the Utah state high school football playoff brackets

SALT LAKE CITY — The opening round of the state high school football playoffs in the books, with a few upsets already making for an interesting postseason.

But it's the second round where things start to get good as the teams that earned first-round byes join the fray and contend against the teams with a one-week jumpstart. Will we see more upsets next week?

Here's an updated look at the brackets for each classification of high school football. All games below will be played on Oct. 29 at home sites.

6A playoffs

• No. 1 Corner Canyon v. No. 16 Kearns, 6 p.m.
• No. 9 Riverton v. No. 8 American Fork, 6 p.m.
• No. 4 Weber v. No. 13 Layton, 6 p.m.
• No. 12 Syracuse v. No. 5 Mountain Ridge, 6 p.m.
• No. 2 Lone Peak v. No. 18 Herriman, 6 p.m.
• No. 10 West Jordan v. No. 7 Bingham, 6 p.m.
• No. 3 Skyridge v. No. 19 Westlake, 6 p.m.
• No. 11 West v. No. 6 Farmington, 6 p.m.

The quarterfinal games will be played on Nov. 5 at home sites, and semifinal games will be played at the University of Utah on Nov. 12 at 2:30 p.m. and 6:30 p.m., with the 6A state final played at the University of Utah on Nov. 19 at 2:30 p.m.

5A playoffs

• No. 1 Springville v. No. 17 Alta, 6 p.m.
• No. 24 Box Elder v. No. 8 Timpanogos, 6 p.m.
• No. 4 Bountiful v. No. 20 Park City, 6 p.m.
• No. 21 Orem v. No. 5 Provo, 6 p.m.
• No. 2 Timpview v. No. 15 Bonneville, 6 p.m.

The semifinal round games will be played on Nov. 5 at a destination to be determined later, with the 4A state final played at the University of Utah on Nov. 12 at 11 a.m.

3A playoffs

• No. 4 Morgan v. No. 5 North Sanpete, 6 p.m.
• No. 2 Juan Diego v. No. 7 Canyon View, 6 p.m.

The semifinal round will be played on Nov. 6 at Southern Utah University at 4 p.m. and 7 p.m., with the 3A state final played at Weber State University on Nov. 13 at 5 p.m.

2A playoffs
