Coronation Street spoilers follow.
Coronation Street's Super Soap Week came to an end last night (October 22) by revealing that it was Johnny Connor who didn't survive the dramatic events.
He jumped into the sinkhole in an attempt to save the love of his life, Jenny, despite their estrangement, but sadly didn't make it out.
Shayne Ward, who previously played Johnny's son Aidan in the soap until 2018, reacted to the dramatic scenes, tagging actors Richard Hawley and Sally Ann Matthews.
"Dad (single tear crying emoji)," he tweeted. "Another heartbreaking scene. @RichardHawley1 @SallyAnMatthews both brilliant. You will be missed Richard. So very proud of you!"

Matthews replied to Ward's tweet and referenced the heartbreaking moment in which Johnny heard his son's voice before he died, writing: "Wasn't he amazing! When I heard your voice and saw his little face."
"Hearing Aiden's voice killed me," added Shona actress Julia Goulding.
Hawley explained why it was the right time for him to leave the soap, explaining that "Iain [MacLeod], the producer, had known for some time that I was ready to go.
"I talked to him about it in the previous year and then all the plans and arrangements got stymied because of COVID and I was actually very happy to be working through that year. I was very fortunate.

"It could have been then that I stayed, but I live a long way from Coronation Street and I have done over six years and all the travelling back and forth was getting a bit much for me."
He also stated that he was much happier to get a dramatic tragic ending than just leaving, and he is going to focus on volunteer work with children next.
Coronation Street airs on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays at 7.30pm and 8.30pm.
