PORT JERVIS – On October 20 during the afternoon hours, Port Jervis Police officers observed Clifford Carr, 34, of Shohola, PA,  operating a Mitsubishi Outlander in the area of Kolmar Labs on River Road.
The officer attempted to conduct a vehicle stop to place Carr into custody as Carr was wanted on a bench warrant issued from Orange County Court for failure to appear on extradition proceedings and active arrest warrants issued from Pike County, Pennsylvania for fleeing and eluding police and burglary.
While attempting to stop Carr,  he proceeded to flee the scene, failing to comply, and operating in a highly reckless manner. While attempting to elude police, Carr crossed the center of roadway and struck a Port Jervis Police patrol car causing front end damage.
Carr continued to lead Port Jervis Police on a pursuit onto Pike Street and crossed into the State of Pennsylvania into the Borough of Matamoras where Port Jervis Police and Eastern Pike Regional Police continued pursuit.
Officers pursued Carr through several Matamoras Borough streets and he was apprehended after he fled from his vehicle.   During the foot pursuit, Carr allegedly pushed a pedestrian to the ground.
Carr was charged with unlawful fleeing of a police officer, reckless endangerment, and criminal mischief, as well as several vehicle and traffic violations and with being a fugitive from justice, a felony.
Carr was remanded to Orange County Jail pending future court appearances.
