Vandalism

WILLMAR — A front passenger window of a vehicle was broken out and the left corner of its frame was bent as if a pry bar was used, it was reported at 6:56 a.m. Friday. The vehicle was parked in a parking lot on the 400 block of Benson Avenue Southwest.

WILLMAR — A driver’s side window was smashed on a vehicle parked on the 400 block of Sixth Street Southwest, it was reported Friday afternoon.

WILLMAR — The back window of a vehicle was smashed while parked on the 900 block of Kandiyohi Avenue Southwest, it was reported Friday morning.

Suspect checking vehicles

WILLMAR — Police responded to a report at 9:17 a.m. Friday of a male said to be checking vehicles in a parking lot on the 300 block of Becker Avenue Southwest.

Police made contact with the individual. He would not allow officers to search a back and gray backpack he carried. No one witnessed him enter any of the vehicles. The suspect’s father came to pick him up.

Theft

WILLMAR — A theft was reported at 8:13 a.m. Friday from a motor vehicle parked on the 100 block of Becker Avenue Southeast.

WILLMAR — A woman declined assistance from law enforcement and staff at Walmart on the 700 block of 19th Avenue Southeast after reporting the loss of her jacket shortly after 10 p.m. Thursday.

The woman said she wasn’t getting the respect deserved after being told it was not feasible to watch four hours of video surveillance in an hour time span to assist in possibly locating the missing jacket.

Suspicious person

WILLMAR — Police responded to a report at 6:59 a.m. Friday that a person wearing jeans and boots was lying down in a front yard on the 200 block of Minnesota Avenue Southwest.

Graffiti

WILLMAR — New graffiti was reported Thursday on the walking bridge at High Avenue and Porto Rico Street Northeast and on the First Street Bridge.

Leaf pile fire

WILLMAR — A property owner on the 1000 block of Park Avenue Northwest put out a leaf pile fire Thursday evening after being informed of a city ordinance against the practice.

Wandering dog ‘declines’ ride to shelter

WILLMAR — A dog described as a husky wearing a shock collar followed hikers on city paths along Willmar Avenue and 22nd Street Southwest but “denied the need for transport to shelter by running away multiple times and then leaving the area,” according to a report filed shortly after 7 p.m. Thursday.
