The Monroe County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a strange shooting that occurred at N. Telegraph and Buhl Rds. in Frenchtown Township Wednesday night that left almost a dozen shell casings from a .40-caliber pistol in the roadway.

The shots were fired about 8:45 p.m. and a conservation officer found the casings, a deputy’s report said. A Newport man, 25, who lived nearby, told deputies he was outside and heard several loud bangs that sounded like five gunshots being fired in rapid succession. When he went to investigate, he saw a dark-colored sedan parked by the intersection. As he approached the vehicle, it sped off heading west on Buhl.

Another nearby resident reported the shots sounded like someone performing a “magazine dump,” the report said.

Window broken at mobile home park

A Raisinville Township woman said she was awakened early Friday morning by a loud bang of something that broke a glass window on her home in the Raisin Ridge mobile home park off M-50.

The incident happened about 12:35 a.m. Friday in the 800 block of Trey Ridge, a deputy report said. The woman told deputies she went to investigate and saw an unidentified person running away from the home. She found a battery under the window and called 911. Damage to the window was estimated at $300.

Two vehicles broken into

Two Michael Kors’ wallets valued at $100, and a black and a gray backpack worth $50 and containing a circuit analysis book were stolen from a 2008 Honda and 2003 Honda both parked at the Northtowne Meadows Trailer Park in Temperance Thursday night.

The vehicles were both parked in a driveway in the park off S. Telegraph Rd. (US-24). One of the wallets contained the driver’s license, social security card and credit cards for a female, authorities said.
