Golden Nuggets: The Niners Get Less Healthy (?) During Bye Week

Your daily San Francisco 49ers news for Saturday, October 23, 2021.

It feels like it’s been a month since the last time the 49ers played a football game. We’ll get 12 Sundays of 49er football in a row starting tomorrow. If San Francisco wants to make that 13 Sundays in a row, a win against the Colts would go a long way.

Kinlaw, Hurst put defensive interior in question; Lance out; Williams doubtful

“Offensively, quarterback Trey Lance (knee) is out, and left tackle Trent Williams (ankle, elbow) is doubtful. Kinlaw could be headed to injured reserve, and Hurst definitely will be because he needs four to six weeks of recovery, coach Kyle Shanahan said. Hurst was seen leaving the 49ers’ facility on crutches with his foot in an orthopedic boot Friday.”

Kyle Shanahan confident in rookie tackle Jaylon Moore

“I think he’s done a real good job,” Shanahan said. “You have to get thrown out into battle and you’ve got to deal with the NFL and how it is. So, there’ll always be adjustments with that, but every time he’s gone out there, whether it’s in the preseason, whether it’s been in these practices, the game’s not too big for him. He gets better the more he plays. And if he does get that opportunity Sunday night, it’ll be a hell of an opportunity for him and I know he’ll be ready.”

RB JaMycal Hasty On Track To Return vs Colts

“I expect him to be full go,” head coach Kyle Shanahan said. “He had a real good week, which you never know when they’re coming back from a high ankle. But he looked good Monday and continued all the way to today. So, no concerns.”

49ers hope Brandon Aiyuk’s ‘great week’ of practice carries over

“I just feel like [Aiyuk] just has to do exactly what he did all week, this week of practice,” Samuel said. “Just getting back to himself, getting his confidence back, just going out there and making plays. He had a great week of practice, and we [were] very proud of how he came out there this week and showcased who he really [is] and who we know he is to be.”

Jerry Rice doesn’t blame just Kyle Shanahan for 49ers’ struggles

“You’re going to have some fans feel like Kyle Shanahan is not making the right calls, but I think the thing is, until those players take over the team, get their identity and stuff like that, they’re going to struggle. Players have to step in and go ‘Look, we have to go out and win football games.’ So as professional players, that’s just what you sign up for. I don’t put the blame just on Kyle Shanahan. I think everybody has to look at each other and you have to challenge each other and say ‘Hey look, we gotta do whatever we have to do to win football games. If a coach (calls a play) that we don’t like, we still gotta make that play work no matter what.’ “

John Lynch confirms 49ers’ Marlon Mack trade due diligence

While speaking to KNBR on Friday morning, 49ers general manager John Lynch confirmed a report that the 49ers spoke to Indianapolis about Mack’s availability among other players as the Nov. 2 NFL trade deadline approaches.

“You do your due diligence, and (Colts general manager) Chris Ballard and I are very good friends, we talk about a lot of things around trade deadline which is after Chicago,” Lynch said on “Murph and Mac.” ”That Tuesday so after next week’s game, that Tuesday, as that gets close, you call around the league, the league calls you and say hey, we’ve got this guy would you have any interest? Let us talk about it and so I think a lot of the reports are born out of that.”

49ers’ Jimmy Garoppolo ripped by ex-Patriots teammate Martellus Bennett
