LAK@DAL: Gurianov backhands home overtime winner

DALLAS -- Denis Gurianov scored with 45 seconds remaining in overtime to give the Dallas Stars a 3-2 win against the Los Angeles Kings at American Airlines Center on Friday.

The forward scored on the rush with a backhand to the far post from the right face-off circle.
Miro Heiskanen had a goal and two assists, Tyler Seguin had a goal and an assist, and Braden Holtby made 43 saves for the Stars (3-2-0) in their home opener.
"We thought we had a lot more to give," said Seguin, who scored his first points of the season. "There's nothing really pretty about tonight, our game. But good teams find ways, and we did tonight. It's something for us to build off of. We want to make this a hard place to play."
Anze Kopitar and Gabriel Vilardi scored, and Jonathan Quick made 19 saves for the Kings (1-2-1), who have lost three in a row.
"We certainly had our opportunities, you want to put the game away," said Kopitar, the Kings captain. "We had the lead again going into the third (period) and we gave it up. Yeah, we'll take the one point, but we definitely should not be satisfied with that point."

LAK@DAL: Heiskanen one-times dish to tie the game

Los Angeles defenseman Drew Doughty left the game with 4:01 left in the second period because of a lower-body injury after taking a knee-to-knee hit from Dallas defenseman Jani Hakanpää, who received a five-minute major for kneeing and a game misconduct.
There was no update on Doughty. Kings coach Todd McLellan said he will be evaluated Saturday. Los Angeles finishes its four-game road trip at the St. Louis Blues on Saturday and Monday.
"Obviously, you don't want to see him go down -- it doesn't matter who it is," Kopitar said. "It's one of your teammates, and when somebody goes down, it's not a good feeling. So hopefully it's nothing too serious."
Hakanpaa said, "I saw him coming down the wing, I was just trying to deny him the entry to our zone. It was unfortunate what happened, and I really hope he's going to be well, and be back playing as soon as possible. Something you never want to see happening, a guy going down like that."
Kopitar scored his sixth goal of the season on a cross-ice pass from Viktor Arvidsson to give the Kings a 1-0 lead at 17:11 of the first period. Kopitar has scored in all four games.

LAK@DAL: Kopitar finishes slick passing play

Seguin tied it 1-1 on the power play with 40 seconds left in the period on a one-timer from the left face-off dot.
Vilardi put the Kings ahead 2-1 on the power play with a wrist shot that caromed off Holtby's shoulder at 17:32 of the second period.
Los Angeles outshot Dallas 31-10 through two periods.
"It's a game because of Braden," Stars coach Rick Bowness said. "He did his job and clearly we were not on top of our game for two periods. He kept us in there and gave us a chance to win."
Heiskanen tied it 2-2 on the power play at 10:58 of the third off a cross-ice pass from Joe Pavelski.
NOTES: With his goal, Heiskanen (22 years, 96 days) became the youngest defenseman in Stars/Minnesota North Stars history to reach 100 NHL points (Craig Hartsburg; 22 years, 142 days in 1981). Heiskanen has scored 101 points (30 goals, 71 assists) in 210 games. … Kings forward Arthur Kaliyev got his first NHL assist on Vilardi's goal. … Kopitar has the third-longest goal streak to start a season in Los Angeles history, behind Charlie Simmer (six games, 1979-80) and Luc Robitaile (five, 1999-2000).
