Interstate 15 was shut down after a multi-vehicle crash sent 11 people to the hospital near the Utah-Arizona border, officials stated.
Mesquite Fire Chief Jayson Andrus shared a press release stating northbound and southbound directions were closed for less than an hour Friday due to the incident in a construction zone in Arizona.
He said three vehicles were involved — one semi-truck, one private passenger van and one small car.
Eleven of 12 people involved were taken to the hospital.
Officials said two people were flown to St. George Regional Hospital, one by Mercy Air 11 and one by Life Flight.
Mesquite Fire Rescue transported five people to the hospital, and Beaver Dam Littlefield Fire Department transported four.
According to the press release, one person did not need to be transported.
They did not share the status of any passengers.
