White Pigeon ends regular season with convincing win

White Pigeon put up a solid ending to their regular season Friday night.

The Chiefs welcomed in Leslie and won the contest, 44-21. With the victory, the Chiefs improve to 8-1 on the season and will play next week in the MHSAA playoffs.

On Friday, Leslie actually led in the contest. Jayden Colby passed it 35 yards to Aidan Borst for a touchdown. The Black Hawks then went for the conversion attempt and connected for it, making the game 8-0.

That was the score after one quarter.

White Pigeon answered with a pair of touchdowns in the second.

Dylan Carper rumbled 14 yards for a score at the 9:24 mark. The conversion attempt was no good and the Chiefs trailed 8-6. White Pigeon would get ahead in the game on the next possession.

There, Jack Davidson scampered 84 yards for a touchdown followed by a conversion run for Dom Frachetti, making the Chief lead 14-8.

Leslie answered at the 5:30 mark of the second quarter. There, Ethan Kaimon passed it to Benjamin Conner for 26 yards. The conversion missed and made the score 14-14.

Then, before the half, White Pigeon would score to go up for good. Carper scored his second rushing TD of the game on a 6-yard run. He added the conversion attempt as well, giving the Chiefs a 22-14 edge. That score would hold up until halftime.

In the second half, the Chiefs scored three of the four touchdowns.

Daniel Jackson found the end zone first for the Chiefs at the 9:04 mark. It was a 2-yard TD run, but the conversion attempt was missed so the score was 28-14.

Davidson then found the end zone on a 1-yard plunge late in the fourth. Frachetti ran the conversion in, making it 36-14.

Leslie’s final points came from Kaimon on a 40-yard pass to Hunter Doyle. An extra point was made as well.

Then, with 1:39 remaining on the clock, James Stewart raced to the end zone on a 32-yard run, putting the score at 44-21.

White Pigeon piled up 471 yards of total offense. The Chiefs averaged 8.4 yards per carry.

Time of possession saw White Pigeon dominate with a 34:52 to 13:08 edge.

Davidson led the Chiefs on the ground with 196 yards, Carper rushed for 168 and Frachetti added 73.

Chris Jackson and Jon Bontrager each made five tackles. Caleb Lane had four tackles while Carper made 3.5 stops. Estaban Castro and Luke Gropp each had three tackles.
