RED BLUFF —  COVID-19 cases on a slight decline in Tehama County, according to the Tehama County Health Services Agency.

There were 320 new COVID cases Oct. 11-17 for an average of 46 cases per day. In September, the county averaged 65 new cases per day.

According to the state COVID-19 dashboard, as of Friday, the county had a test positivity rate of 12.9, and its new cases per 100,000 population is at 44.4. As of Friday, there had been 109 deaths in the county from the virus.

Public Health Executive Director Jayme Bottke gave an update during Tuesday’s Tehama County Board of Supervisors meeting.

“We are seeing our cases and case numbers decline slightly, and at the current rate, our October would be projected to still fall over 1,000 cases for the month,” Bottke said.

There were 16 patients in the hospital diagnosed with the coronavirus, and the ICU remains full, Bottke said.

“We are currently 46.8 percent fully vaccinated in the county,” Bottle said. “We have 6.3 percent that is partially vaccinated for a total of 53.1 percent that have received at least one dose. There are still 46.9 percent of the eligible population, that is aged 12 and up, who have not been vaccinated in our county, and we remain third highest in the state.”
