Ryan Gosling to Play Ken in Warner Bros ‘Barbie’

Barbie’s Ken may have just been found, and surprise, it might be two-time Oscar-nominee Ryan Gosling! According to Deadline, Ryan Gosling is in final talks to play the iconic Mattel figure in Warner Bros’ film based on the famous doll.

Gosling first declined the role, but as pre-production went on and the studio insisted on him being their sole choice, an opening in his calendar arose, allowing him to join on.

Little Women and Lady Bird director Greta Gerwig is directing and also co-wrote the script with Noah Baumbach. Margot Robbie will play the iconic doll Barbie. The plot of Barbie is still unknown.

Given Gerwig’s success with 2017’s Lady Bird and 2019’s Little Women, it wouldn’t be so surprising that she makes Barbie a success too.

Gosling just concluded filming on Anthony and Joe Russo’s big-budget Netflix action movie The Gray Man as Court Gentry, which is based on Mark Greaney’s 2009 novel. Chris Evan, Ana de Armas, and Regé-Jean Page are also starring in the film.

Gosling is set to star next in Phil Lord and Christopher Miller’s sci-fi film Project Mail Mary based on Andy Weir sci-fi novel of the same name

Filming is hoped to begin as early as 2022 at Warner Bros’ Leavesden Studios in London. The theatrical release is planned for 2023.
