Kingston YMCA Youth Farm crew decorate a utility box along Schwenk Drive in Kingston, N.Y. The crew was calling attention to Monica Goods. Goods died after a 2017 Dodge Journey driven by her father, Tristan G. Goods of Hollis, Queens, overturned and came to rest on its roof before colliding with Christopher Baldner’s patrol vehicle during a chase on the Thruway near mile marker 93.6, just north of Exit 19 in Kingston, according to a state police accident report and state police reports after the collision.

Monica, who police said was not wearing a seatbelt, was thrown from the SUV and suffered fatal injuries, authorities said.

Gov. Kathy Hochul has directed state Attorney General Letitia James to convene an Ulster County grand jury to consider possible criminal charges against the state trooper involved in a Thruway pursuit and crash that killed an 11-year-old girl.

The crew has been given permission by Mayor Steve Noble and Chieft Tinti to decorate the box. The box has been redecorated four times due to vandalism.
