Barcelona is reportedly ready to go head-to-head with Real Madrid over the prospect of signing Paris Saint-Germain superstar Kylian Mbappe next summer.

Barcelona has been in a financial crisis all year long with a number of key players departing from the club in the previous transfer window in hopes of solving their financial woes. The Blaugrana had to let go of players like Lionel Messi, Antoine Griezmann, and Miralem Pjanic just to keep the club afloat.

The Catalan giants were adamant to keep their spending to a minimum before scouring the football market for their next superstar signing.  Barcelona Vice President, Eduard Romeu, revealed earlier this week that the club will be unable to sign big stars for another 2 years.

However, according to AS reports, Barca is eyeing a ‘near-impossible move to persuade Kylian Mbappe away from their rival frontrunners Real Madrid.

While Mbappe will be available as a free agent without a transfer fee owed to Les Parisiens, he will be demanding a one-off transfer fee that would go towards the striker and his representatives.

As it stands, Mbappe is set to leave PSG at the end of the year after the expiration of his current contract. Though the transfer fee owed to the Parisians will be free, a fee will also be demanded towards the 22-year old and his representatives.

It is believed Real Madrid is prepared to $58 million but as ridiculous as it sounds, Barca is rumored to offer a whopping $104 million — with what money? That remains to be seen by the public eye. This potential move for Mbappe's signature could prove devastating for Barcelona, further impacting their economic stability.

Even if Mbappe has publicly expressed his desire to join Real Madrid, nothing is certain until he signs on the dotted line, and Barcelona will look for a way to sneak past their rivals until then.
