More work is being done to boost the South Shore’s clam population.
Around 25,000 clams were thrown off the Babylon Village Pool and into the Great South Bay Friday.
It’s part of the Town of Babylon’s Hard Clam Program, which is an effort to put more clams in the area to boost the population naturally.
The Town of Babylon has operated the Hard Clam Program since 1986.
This year, Captree Clam supplied the clams and the town’s Environmental Control Department helped dump them into the bay.
