Season 19 The Voice winner Carter Rubin just released a new single, and his coach Gwen Stefani is supporting him on social media. The 16-year-old just shared the new track, called “horoscope,” on Friday. The sweet, acoustic song already has a cute lyric video, and Carter will also be releasing a music video to go along with it.

Gwen Stefani Cheers on Carter Rubin’s New Single

“I am SO proud of @carterjrubin for releasing his new song AND video #horoscope!!” Stefani wrote on Twitter. “Go check it out! Sending you love Carter!” She added an emoji of a smiling face covered in hearts, as well as the hashtag #forevercoach.

Carter won Season 19 of The Voice last year at age 15, becoming the youngest male champion in the show’s history. It was also the first time Stefani won the show as a coach, after appearing on and off for five seasons. In the finale, Carter performed an original song called “Up From Here.”

Now he’s back with a new song, and it’s a bittersweet breakup anthem that we’ll be listening to on repeat. In the song, Carter tells his ex that he doesn’t check their horoscope anymore. He keeps the astrological theme going by telling them that their “futures never were aligned.”

The song’s lyric video has a purple and yellow aesthetic, featuring artwork of various astrological signs to accompany the lyrics. The track also features references to the new moon and Mercury in retrograde. Our only complaint is that it’s only two minutes long.

What Did Carter Have to Say About the Song on Social Media?

Carter posted about “horoscope” on Instagram, writing that it marks a “new era” for him. He thanked everyone involved with the song and the music video, as well as his “forever coach” Stefani. Carter wrote that the song “means the UNIVERSE to me.”

The song’s music video is scheduled to premiere on Friday at 6 pm ET. Carter also invited fans to hang out with him on YouTube 10 minutes before the premiere to chat.

The Voice official Twitter account also showed support for Carter’s new song, writing, “Listening to this on repeat for the rest of the day.” Carter replied by saying, “AAHH love u fam.” He also thanked Stefani for her support, telling her, “thanks for EVERYTHING.”
