Haven't bothered with the series yet? Here's the official synopsis to whet your appetite: "A battle royale conducted via children's games sounds like a lighthearted and enjoyable watch, but the Squid Games have a lot more blood involved than the playground.
"When a mysterious organisation offers those in debt a chance to win a huge amount of money – we're talking millions – by playing a series of games with a group of people who are equally downtrodden. However, these games have deadly consequences."

It's fair to say that Squid Game is the streaming service's biggest success since Tiger King: Murder, Mayhem and Madness, and the mastermind behind it, Hwang Dong-hyuk, recently addressed this.
"Of course, I'm exhilarated about the success. And I'm dumbfounded that this could actually happen to a director like me. It's been a really complex experience that I've had – emotionally and memory-wise – after the success of Squid Game," he shared.
"I initially thought of this piece at a time when I was really struggling – I would say it was the lowest point in my life. And all of Squid Game was written back then. A lot of hardship is ingrained in this show – but then it became a blockbuster worldwide success."
Squid Game is streaming now on Netflix.
