Should you be elected, what are three specific areas you’d like to change, address, improve or further research, and how specifically would you go about it?: Although there are several issues we are addressing now, some other ones I would like to see addressed are the following: The 1st area would be to continue staffing key positions that were eliminated. The addition of a building and zoning inspector is one that I feel is important. They would be there to help enforce our current building and zoning laws. It would also give our residents access to local inspectors instead of waiting on county inspectors. Our city engineer and service director have stepped up admirably, but it is short of what our city really needs. I would work with administration to structure our budget to bring this person on board as soon as possible.

The second area that I would like to see improved is city cellular service to residents. The east end of the city is affected by a severe lack of cellular coverage. This can present a dangerous situation if someone needed assistance and did not have a land line. Technology is constantly getting better. I would like to come up with a plan to fix this problem so our residents can feel safe and connected. Meeting and working together with the cell service providers, the administration and those most affected by this situation will be required to accomplish this.

The 3rd would be to continue building the relationships with the businesses and developers in our city. They are the main source of bringing people and new money into our city. Without them we would struggle to keep up with inflating costs just to cover the basic services. The Covid relief funds that we made available to the businesses helped many of them during a hard time. I would also like to see the city assist them in finding the personnel they need to fill vacant positions. Promoting our businesses will bring will bring in people who will see what a great city we have. We are truly where the city meets the country and I want to keep that semi-rural atmosphere in residential areas.

Whether for past accomplishments or future goals, why should voters elect you?: I would ask voters to consider re-electing me based on what I have done over the last 2 years. Even with all the Covid restrictions we had to work with, we were able to fix past legislation and restart popular programs that are there to help our residents. As a council member I have made sure Police, Fire and Service departments are fully staffed, funded and have upgraded equipment as needed to keep them the best. Our businesses can finally trust the city and council are an ally who want to work with them to be successful. We have been very open to any discussion with all residents who have concerns or issues. These issues and concerns are addressed thoroughly with legal guidance from our law department so there are no lawsuits made against our city. This city is finally working together with the best interest of the residents in mind and I would like to keep it going that way.
