Anaheim Ducks forward Max Jones will miss four to six months with a torn pectoral muscle.

Jones, 23, was injured in the third period of Monday’s 3-2 road win against the Calgary Flames.

He was placed on injured reserve on Tuesday and the team said he will have surgery next week.

“It’s a tough blow for Max as he made strides last season and was heading in the right direction this year as well,” Ducks general manager Bob Murray said in a statement on Friday. “We hope to have him back this year and at full strength.”

Anaheim’s first-round pick in 2016, Jones did not record a point in two games this season. He has 17 goals and 11 assists in 137 games since making his NHL debut on Jan. 17, 2019.
