Falcons injury report: Dante Fowler Jr. ruled out, Avery Williams doubtful vs. Dolphins

It’s finally Friday! The Atlanta Falcons are preparing to travel south and face the Miami Dolphins, who they played earlier during the preseason. Friday is always the most important day for the practice report, as it provides us with the best insight into who both team’s may be without on Sunday.

You can expect to see the injury reports here every Wednesday, Thursday and Friday, except for when the Falcons play on Thursday night.

There was some big news for the Falcons on Friday as the injury designations were revealed. Dante Fowler Jr. will miss Sunday’s game due to a knee injury that has caused the team to place him on injured reserve. Fowler will miss the next three games at minimum. Avery Williams who missed the Week 5 game in London is doubtful to play against Miami. If Williams is unable to go, it’ll likely be Olamide Zaccheaus stepping up and handling return duties.

Also, not listed on the injury report but noteworthy is Kaleb McGary who is currently on the team’s reserve/COVID-19 list. He’s not officially been ruled out for Sunday, although it’s considered unlikely that he will play on Sunday. Expect to see Jason Spriggs or Colby Gossett lining up at right tackle if McGary is ruled out.

The Dolphins certainly have a larger injury report on Friday than the Falcons. Miami has no players officially ruled out for Sunday, but have seven designated as questionable for Week 7. New to the injury report for the Dolphins is corner Noah Igbinoghene who popped up for the first time this week on Friday with a knee injury.

We’ll know who will officially play and not play when the inactives for both teams are announced shortly before the 1 p.m. ET kickoff on Sunday.
