Joe Manchin, the moderate centrist Democrat who represents West Virginia in the U.S. Senate, has been in the national spotlight as a crucial vote for President Joe Biden’s infrastructure bill.

Now Manchin finds himself in another political controversy, with rumors swirling that he wants to remove the “D” that designates his political affiliation.

Mother Jones reported Manchin is considering leaving the Democratic Party if Biden won’t trim the size of his social infrastructure bill from $3.5 trillion to $1.75 trillion.

The senator minced no words, though, with Politico, saying the party affiliation report was bull----.

In another media report, Manchin told The Hill he was not leaving the Democratic Party and didn’t threaten to take that step.

NPR reported, however, that the U.S senator said he offered to become an independent if he was an “embarrassment” to Democrats.
