MORGANTON, N.C. (WBTV) - The Burke County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a body of male who was found on the banks of Catawba River Friday, along the Carbon City area of Morganton.

Deputies say the body appears to have been there around 10 days.

Officials identified the man as Shawn Jeroskey Cash, who had been reported missing since Oct. 19.

While officials are awaiting the Medical Examiner for the cause of death, the preliminary cause of death is drowning.
