Teen stabbed in eye with own knife during attempted robbery in Brooklyn: NYPD

NEW YORK (1010 WINS) — A teen attempting to rob someone at knifepoint Thursday night in Brooklyn was stabbed in the eye with his own weapon, police said.

According to officials, the incident occurred at around 9:15 p.m. on East 57th Street, between Avenue K and Avenue L, in the Flatlands neighborhood.

The 18-year-old tried to rob another man with a knife when the would-be victim was able to snatch the weapon and used it stab the teen in the eye, the NYPD said.

EMS transported the would-be thief to a nearby hospital where he was listed in critical condition, police said.

He was in surgery early Friday morning to have the knife removed and has since been upgraded to “stable,” officials said.

The other male who stabbed the teen was taken into police custody.

He had not been charged as of Friday morning and an investigation remains ongoing, authorities said.
