Ty Murray is the greatest all-around cowboy who has ever lived. Seven PRCA all-around titles, two PRCA bull riding titles and an overall remarkable career in the PBR earned the PBR co-founder the appropriate moniker, “King of the Cowboys.”

Murray won the 1999 PBR World Finals and recorded one of the greatest rides in PBR history during Round 2 of the 1999 World Finals when he rode Red Wolf for 95.5 points inside the Thomas & Mack Center. The ride, at the time, would have been tied for the third-highest scored bull ride in PBR history, but Murray still only finished the round in third place. Round 2 of the 1999 PBR World Finals is often known as the Greatest Night of Bull Riding, and it featured eight rides of 90 points or higher.

At the NFR, Murray, a ProRodeo Hall of Fame inductee, won the all-around event average six times, while also claiming the 1993 event average title in the bareback riding and the 1998 event average title in the bull riding.

Murray won the 1987 Arizona National High School Rodeo Association all-around championship and he tied with Dennis Schmidt for the bareback riding title championship, while Arizona won the team national title for the first time in 12 years. Murray also won the National High School Rodeo Association all-around championship.

Murray retired in 2002 and was inducted into the PBR’s Ring of Honor later that year.
