Today’s Media Roundtable discussed some of the top stories in the First Coast, including:
- City Council President Sam Newby terminated the city’s police reform task force abruptly, shocking the committee’s chair, Councilwoman Joyce Morgan, and community activists who vowed to protest when City Council meets Tuesday. The working group’s vice chair, Councilman Michael Boylan, resigned from the committee Monday, saying community activists are unwilling to back down from their demands for a Civilian Review Board.
- Jason Teal’s nomination for general council was approved by a City Council committee despite alleged misconduct during Teal’s tenure as the city’s top lawyer. The Rules Committee approved his nomination in a 5-3 vote.
- During his visit to JAXPORT, Gov. Ron DeSantis encouraged cargo companies to reroute to Jacksonville to “save Christmas.”

Jacksonville Music Experience: DJ Sessions
Matthew Shaw, editor of WJCT's Jacksonville Music Experience, joined us in the studio for our latest installment of JME DJ Sessions. Shaw shared three artists with us: Jax-based saxophonist DeAndrew Lettsome’s red-hot jazz, Faze Waves’s melancholy guitar and LANNDS’ “electronic-umami,” which contemplates death and rebirth.
The JME team will be at Intuition Ale Works on Friday and Saturday night for two great shows: Sheer Mag and Frankie and the Witch Fingers.
