Jamel Herring and Shakur Stevenson both have something to prove when they meet in the boxing ring Saturday for the WBO junior lightweight title. Herring defends the belt against Stevenson in the main event from a card in Atlanta's State Farm Arena. The main fight card is set for 7:30 p.m. ET, with the headliners making their way to the ring around 10:30 p.m. ET. Herring hasn't lost in more than four years and is making his fourth title defense Saturday. But he is still a massive underdog against Stevenson, the prodigal talent who has seen some of his hype subside amid a couple lackluster performances.

The latest Stevenson vs. Herring odds from Caesars Sportsbook list Stevenson as the -1100 favorite (risk $1,100 to win $100), while Herring is the +700 underdog. The over-under for total rounds expected is set at 10.5. Jamel Herring vs. Shakur Stevenson preview

Stevenson told the media this week that his motivation is at an all-time high because of numerous factors. For one, this will be the biggest isolated stage on which he's ever performed and he's eager to prove to both longtime fans and first-time viewers that he is one of boxing's most gifted fighters.

Moreover, he is set to become a father later this year and a standout performance Saturday sets the stage for bigger-money fights that will give his family financial security.

Stevenson also said he has heard the criticism of his recent outings, but pays no attention to the detractors unless the feedback is coming from one of his coaches. He said this is because the fans and media don't understand the nuances of boxing, mistaking his opportunistic style for passivity.

The 2016 Olympic silver medalist has just one stoppage in his last four fights, but said he believes the stylistic matchup will allow him to display his underrated power.
